Nothing compares to the thrill of seeing your first article published with your byline. Suddenly, you have entered the world of published author. If you have published your work, congratulations! Whether you realize it or not, you have just entered a new stage of your life.
If you have chosen to write for an online audience, and I assume you have or you wouldn’t be reading this article, you need to understand that writing for an online audience can be thrilling, but it also requires a whole different set of skills from writing for print.
When I first ventured to write for the web I had the mistaken notion that writing a well crafted piece was all that was needed to be successful. I was wrong. My first published piece was hardly noticed and for good reason. Its not that it was particularly bad, although I must admit from looking at it now that it left a little to be desired. Okay. So I’m being kind to my younger self. It left a lot to be desired.
